My 1st furniture makeover!

When we moved into our new house a couple of months ago, we had lots of bits and pieces given to us to get us started, so we at least had something to sit on and something to eat off!
We were given some cute little wooden chairs and I've been dying to get to work on a little makeover project, and here are the results! Its not massively ambitious, but remember it is my first go!! Let me know what you think!

Before...

and after!

here it is next to its original matching buddy! I think I want to do this one differently, maybe covering it with some french grain sack material and painting the wood red perhaps?!?
any other ideas anyone?!

  2. Very cute. Let us know where you find the french grain sack material. I'm looking for that as well.

  3. It looks brilliant! And so perfectly painted too. I always seem to get lots of drip marks! Did you do an undercoat first? x

  4. cowgirl in wellies - have you checked out ebay for fabric? I've seen some on there previously.

Thrifty Stylish Home - thank you! no undercoat, just sanded down, wiped down and painted! the paint I used said it only needed one coat - but used two, definitely needed it.

  6. Absolutely love it. Looks like the customised chairs that pop up in Cath Kidston shops.

    What paint did you use?

  7. thanks Hygge Nook!

it was just a satin finish paint for interior wood - no particular brand, actually it was pretty cheap! :)

  8. You could paint it red and do white fabric with red spots, or red gingham?

Your chair looks fab, and like the kind thing one would pay many pounds for in a posh shop!

  11. Just been reading some back posts and spotted the sofa - I've been lusting after that ever since I saw it on the front cover! I have a few grain sacks and have wondered how many it would take to cover a button back arm chair? These chairs are great but the sofa is perfect - lovely, nubbly, textural, individual - shall I go on? (I'm not normally an envious woman!)

The french grain sack material sounds like such a good idea - I'd love to see the finished article if you decide to go with it! xx
