Repurposing...

I love to see vintage things being repurposed as something else other than its intended use.... at Kempton Park market today my friend inspired me with her ideas - using old playing cards to make greetings cards, and old metal moulds to turn into bookends! A little bit of imagination can go a long way! ;)
I spotted the work of stylist Tara Sloggett over at Decor 8 - who has some great examples of repurposing....

 

Whether its a big statement like the shutters as a headboard, or a small touch like just using an old jam jar for tealights - there's just something more interesting about doing this kind of thing! 

 

Oh, and this pic below is just because I wish I could be in it right now! Gorgeous! :)

Current Obsession: Vintage Electric Fans

Recently I came across a few vintage electric fans at markets and antique shops- very nearly bought one and then changed my mind as I wasn't quite sure where I'd put it... but now I regret not getting it.  I would find somewhere to put it! So I'll be keeping my beady eye out in future... they just look so pretty in these images below...

Painting the fireplace

So I am hoping this year, hopefully in the 1st half of it, we will get round to decorating the front room, and one of my dilemmas at the moment is whether to paint the fireplace or not... But after some research I'm thinking that it is a good idea- I guess its one of those things that once its done, its done, and you can't really go back on it!  This first image is very much like the shape and layout of our room and it is really making me want to paint the floorboards white too!

The January sales are still in full swing, and I, sadly, have mainly been refraining from buying anything due to lack of funds for spending on unnecessary things! Sisters Agency

Today I have been poring over the latest issue of Elle Decoration, which I have to say is one of my favourites to date - some really lovely interiors and photography featured.  I googled some of the photographers to see more of their work, and came across Sisters agency - WOW! So much inspiration... you may get lost on the site for a while! Run by 2 sisters - photographer Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer, and author and journalist Julia Mincarelli, these talented ladies sell their interiors features to mags such as Elle Deco and Inside Out, and there really is some stunning work.....

Something for the weekend...

I'm just about to go curl up on the sofa with little Claude and the latest copy of Living Etc, but before I do I just wanted to share some lovely images from the renowned French photographer Francois Halard.

 The glamourous bathroom above is that of Gela Nash-Taylor, co-founder of Juicy Couture.

Gorgeous Prints

If you ask me you can never have enough art, photography or even objects to hang on the wall, even if you are worried about it getting to cluttered you can always rotate your artwork so it never gets stale.  Wrap up the unused works in bubble wrap and slip them into the cupboard under the stairs, or somewhere equally as handy so its not too much of a chore when you want a change.
Some prints I'm loving right now are from Eva Juliet on Etsy.... Eva is an art director based in Canada and I think her work is really beautiful - I also love how some of the prints come in either English or French....

I would love one of these culinary prints for the kitchen...

 And for those days where things seem rough... get some motivation!

 And how pretty are these just simply hanging on little pegs?!
