DIY: Lacy crochet coasters

The next in our series of crafty guest bloggers to pop by Patchwork Harmony and share their handmade skills is Natasja from Crochet Time. If you follow me on Instagram you may remember recently I tried crochet for the first time, but I have to admit with being away for our wedding and honeymoon, my crochet has slipped, I think its one of those things you have to keep up regularly, so I hope this little tutorial Natasja is sharing with us today will help me get back into it, as they are so pretty. Over to you Natasja!

I was inspired by the Japanese crochet patterns when I designed these coasters. I tried to make it lacy, light and airy, yet solid enough so that it will protect your table from any spillages.

You can swap around the colours, make two consecutive rounds in the same colour, or even crochet the whole coaster in one colour.  There is a pattern for both round and square versions so mix and match til your hearts content!
Have fun and play!

You will need:
DK cotton yarn in four colours.
3 mm crochet hook.

(NOTE: This pattern is written in US crochet terms.)

For these coasters, I used:
Colour A: Rowan Handknit cotton in Mist
Colour B: Stylecraft Cotton Classique in Lavender and Sunflower, and Rowan Handknit Cotton in Gooseberry and Blue John
Colour C: Rowan Handknit cotton in Bleached
Colour D: Rowan Handknit cotton in Linen
